From Thursday Silverchair bassist Chris Joannou is selling a host of his guitars, amps and other equipment he used during the Newcastle rock legends’ illustrious career.
The sale includes Joannou’s white late-'70s Fender Precision called “Whitey” and a 1975 Natural Fender Precision known as “Phil.” Both bass guitars were used during Silverchair’s final album Young Modern and its subsequent tour.
Joannou, who these days is the co-owner of popular bar and restaurant The Edwards, said he hoped the sale through online site Reverb would find a welcoming home for his music gear.
“It’s always hard to part with gear – especially when I have so much history with them all,” Joannou said. “But this gear shouldn’t be sitting around my home, it should be in someone’s hands being played.”
