TWO POMS Heard of The Mayf? Not the suburb but the latest joint venture by Jamie Thomas (Winnie’s Jamaican) and Luke Smith (Town Hall Bistro) who operate as Two Poms Pty Ltd. “It’s basically going to be like my pub in Redfern – handmade tacos with fresh corn tortillas, some pretty sweet burgers and some classic bistro mains with a Mexican twist,” Thomas tells Food Bites. I’m going to carry on my trend of looking after the vegans, too, with some new and unusual flavours that I think will be well received.” The Mayfield Hotel won’t know what has hit it.

CHERRY ON TOP Cherry Road Coffee Shop at Eleebana is now serving a selection of light lunches in addition to coffee, cake and scones. It’s a pleasant spot to sit and relax.

BUDGET FRIENDLY Crusoe’s on the Lake at Belmont has $15 lunches, 11am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Also, Monday night (5.30pm to 9pm) is “Family Night” where kids eat free and a $15 chicken schnitzel is offered.

PAELLA NIGHT The Wickham Boatshed is having a paella night on March 23. The cost is $45 per person and includes champagne on arrival, crusty bread, paella and churros.

SO SWEET Cocoa Nib’s artistic Easter chocolate range looks almost too good to eat. Simply stunning work by pastry chef Aymee Slaviero. Go online and check out their gold edition honeycomb eggs.
