NEWCASTLE’S Memorial Walk will partially close as the council looks to plug a noisy section of the track.
A section of the walk will close on Monday and work is expected to run for three weeks.
The work site is based roughly in the middle of the walk, above the gap in the cliff, an area that is known to produce a hissing sound during high wind.
The track will still be accessible from both ends but pedestrians will not be able to walk the entire distance of the bridge during work hours.
The council said work will involve replacing the existing grid mesh panels with a solid top panel that is hoped to address the acoustic issues.
A work compound will also be based in the Strzelecki lookout car park.
