ONE of the up-and-coming stars of the Hunter’s building industry has gone into liquidation owing more than $400,000.

MacFox Building, that was run by husband and wife team Damien and Sophie McIntosh, from a repurposed run-down Maryville warehouse, was placed in the hands of insolvency experts Rapsey Griffiths last week.

Documents filed with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission reveal the company owes more than $366,000 to unsecured creditors, many of them small Hunter businesses.

Almost $25,000 is listed as owed in employee superannuation.

The Newcastle Herald reported in May that the McIntoshes founded MacFox – the Mac referred to their name, Fox to their dog – in late 2014.

Mr McIntosh was a carpenter for a decade before he got his builder’s licence.

The company specialised in residential extensions, renovations and outdoor work.

There are more than 40 unsecured creditors.
