Western Sydney have released former Socceroo and English Premier League player Chris Herd near the end of his first season with the A-League club.
Herd, having played three times for Australia, joined the Wanderers in July 2017 on a two-year deal.
However, the 29-year-old struggled to make an impact and cement a regular starting spot.
He made just eight starts, was substituted five times and made one appearance off the bench.
Herd was also booked seven times.
He has mutually agreed to end his time with the club to be closer to family in the United Kingdom.
Herd played 36 EPL games for Aston Villa and also featured in the lower division with Chesterfield and Gillingham.
Also released by mutual consent on Thursday is 28-year-old goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson, who is leaving for another opportunity after his second spell at the club.
Tyson hasn't logged any A-League time this season, with Vedran Janjetovic playing every minute of all games and signing a four-year contact extension on Wednesday.
