Newcastle Beachwatch with Dave Anderson: Tuesday, July 17, 2018

BEACHWATCH

Cooler current and another cold morning. Offshore winds all day, surf conditions slowly dropping but enough for a few good waves. No change in the banks, so once again head for the reefs. Swell from the south at 1 to 1.5 metres. Wind west to north-west and freshening. Suitable early low tide for those that can take the cold. Southern-facing breaks at Nobbys Reef,South Bar and Merewether. Flatrock towards midday. Birubi and Samurai in the north; Dudley, Redhead and Caves to the south. The water is 14 degrees.

HUNTER BOATING

Winds West to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots tending north to northwesterly in the early afternoon. Winds reaching up to 25 knots offshore south of Port Stephens in morning and late evening. Seas 1 to 2 metres. Swell southerly around 1 metre.
