ARGENTINE attacker Pato Rodriguez will not return to the Newcastle Jets next season.
Rodriguez joined the Jets as injury replacement in January, making 12 appearances, including a 17-minute stint off the bench in the 1-0 grand final loss to Melbourne Victory.
But after a classy goal on debut against Central Coast Mariners, the 28-year-old struggled to make an impact, and found himself taking a back seat to the likes of Ronny Vargas and Riley McGree.
The Jets said in a statement they “would like to thank Pato for his contribution to the club and wish him the very best with his future endeavours”.
His departure comes just days after Newcastle confirmed marquee man Vargas would be returning for a second season.
