NEWCASTLE and Hunter Rugby Union has sent a message that foul play will not be tolerated after three players were outed for separate incidents.

Wanderers replacement prop Stephen Neli was suspended for four weeks for punching in the Two Blues’ 42-7 win over University at No.2 Sportsground. Teammate Marcus Christensen copped a one-match ban for the same offense. Both players threw a flurry of punches after a melee broke late in the game.

Southern Beaches centre Caileb Gerrard will miss three games if he takes an early guilty plea for a lifting tackle in their win over his former club Lake Macquarie.

* Wanderers breakaway Sam Schmidt leaves this week with the Outback Barbarians on a month long tour of the USA, which includes seven games in eight states.

On the plus side for the Two Blues, former Waratah prop Noa Taufaao made his debut off the bench against the Students.

* After two years coaching Nelson Bay, Adam Edwards was going to step back and help out with the next generation of Gropers. He is doing that, but the rugged forward has also returned to the field. Edwards, who can play anywhere across the back five, came off the bench in the 24-22 win over Hamilton.

* Hamilton are also set to call on a couple of veterans to kick-start their campaign. Seva Rokobaro played off the bench in seconds last week and is expected to start in first grade against Uni. Pete Maxwell is also back and has his eye on the No.7 jumper.

* The colts competition merges with Central Coast for the next three rounds starting Saturday.
