FFA Cup: High-ranked sides progress in round five of NNSW division

A second-half goal to Dom Bizzarri proved the difference as Edgeworth moved past fellow Northern NSW NPL club Valentine in round five of the FFA Cup on Wednesday night.

The midfielder scored midway through the second term at Jack McLaughlan Oval in a night devoid of upsets as clubs pushed for a spot in the final-eight NNSW tournament at Speers Point from June 9-11. The two survivors will represent the region in the nationwide round of 32.

At Weston, Hamilton defeated the Bears 2-0 with second-half goals from Jed Hornery and Leo Bertos. 

Adamstown defeated Raymond Terrace 3-0 with goals from Liam Ryan, Finn Beasley and Luke Vallone.

NPL champions Lambton Jaffas overcame Cessnock City 4-1 at Turner Park with goals from Bren Hammel, Ryan Griffiths, Pat Brown and Luke Remington. 

NPL leaders Charlestown downed Lake Macquarie 3-1 at Lisle Carr Oval. Scott Smith converted from the spot and Cal Lewis scored for 2-0 at half-time. Sam Walker’s penalty made it 2-1 before Smith grabbed a second.

Broadmeadow beat Thornton 2-0 with an own goal and Kale Bradbery header.
