Stewart Avenue light rail works on track despite weather

The state government says heavy rain last weekend has not changed the timetable for light rail works at Stewart Avenue.

The busy arterial road has been shut for the past two weekends so tracks could be installed.

The work is expected to be finished this weekend, when the road will be closed from 7pm on Friday to 5am on Monday.

The government says the light rail project is running on time to start taking passengers early next year, although it is unclear when Hunter and Scott streets will reopen to traffic.
