There’s a lot going on in Newcastle, we’ve read it, seen it and no doubt navigated around it. You can almost smell the progression and literally feel the change as the city unfolds towards its bright new future.
With a record number of development applications approved in 2017 the building and construction industry is booming with all eyes on those involved in delivering the goods.
APP Corporation, a property and infrastructure professional services consultancy in Newcastle, has been at the heart of Newcastle’s development since 1991.
APP works alongside clients, contractors and consumers to deliver the profile of a city that seems in everyone’s sights.
Peter Allen, General Manager, Northern NSW for APP is a proud Novocastrian and takes great pride in the contribution that he and his staff are making to Newcastle.
“The sustained development in Newcastle is terrific, thanks to the strategic thinking of state and local governments with the support of the local business community, begins Peter.
“It’s wonderful to be part of this growth as well as be associated with the projects happening in Newcastle right now.
“From the University’s NeW Space and Newcastle Courthouse – which were catalyst buildings for the revitalisation of the city centre to regional health infrastructure projects such as Tamworth and Armidale hospital and Aged Care Facilities around the Hunter, we are involved in some great landmarks for Newcastle and Northern New South Wales Region.” He adds.
With some 40 employees at the Newcastle office, APP provide a range of services from providing advice on small, niche assignments to the full spectrum of end-to-end services on major landmark projects, and everything in between.
“We are there to represent the interests of our clients with completely independent advice and guidance that achieves their desired outcome,” explains Peter.
APP clients are many and varied.
The firm has a strong reputation for its projects in the government health, tertiary and government education and aged care industries, with any level of input, dependent on the brief.
Add to this their urban renewal and remediation projects in and around the city, APP is offering a highly skilled regional capability.
“The beginning point for us is varied - once the client knows what they want to achieve we can be involved in managing the due diligence, feasibility, business case, planning, consultant engagement, managing day to day, costs, quality, program, the design process, or the procurement and management of the Head Contractor.
“Our objective is make sure that the client’s goal is translated into a successful physical outcome,” Says Peter.
Simone O’Connor is a Project Director for APP. She oversees project teams, ensures visibility across Projects and trains and develops employees. Her passion for every element of her role and the industry as a whole is evident.
Simone echoes Peter’s enthusiasm both for the change occurring in her adopted hometown of Newcastle and the part that APP has played to help influence a city that is well and truly on the map.
“This is such a fantastic city and it’s a super exciting time to be part of the construction industry in Newcastle. comments Simone.
“Working for APP has provided me with the opportunity to work on some great regional projects with visionary local clients.
“It’s important to remember that at the end of the day the client and the user gets the building for the next 30 years.
“It’s very important to ensure every project’s journey is managed well to ensure a quality outcome for every client.
“This is where we excel.”
