28-year-old faces court in Newcastle over guns and ammunition charges

POLICE investigating conflict between two bikie gangs in the Hunter have arrested a man after a significant firearm and ammunition seizure in the Hunter on Thursday. 

Strike Force Raptor police arrested the 28-year-old in Cardiff after searching a storage unit and seizing multiple weapons that will be forensically examined. The man, who police allege is a member of the Finks, was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court.

Officers executed a search warrant on the storage unit and located a total of 10 firearms including a semi-automatic shotgun, two Ruger Mini 14 semi-automatic rifles, an SKS semi-automatic rifle, a shortened semi-automatic M1 carbine rifle, pump-action shotguns and other long arms, ammunition and detachable firearm magazines.

The firearms will undergo forensic and ballistic examination.

Just after 6.10am on Thursday, Strike Force Raptor officers executed a search warrant at a home on First Street, Cardiff South and located and seized evidence relating to the investigation.
