Broadmeadow moved to second place, guaranteed a finals spot and kept slim premiership hopes alive with a 5-1 thumping of the Jets Youth on Tuesday night.

John Majurovski scored a hat-trick and Kale Bradbery a double in the round 20 Northern NSW NPL game at Magic Park. The result took the hosts to 35 points, five behind leaders Edgeworth with two rounds left.

Broadmeadow dominated early and had three chances saved before Majurovski produced a class touch and shot on the turn to score from a tight angle at a throw-in on 19 minutes.

A Bradbery strike in the 23rd minute made it 2-0. The Jets Youth, one day after returning from five matches at the Weifang Cup in China, got one back in the 31st. Kent Harrison was brought down by Luke Virgili then converted the penalty.

Magic quickly killed off hopes of a revival in the second half, scoring in the 47th minute when Bradbery knocked in a rebound.

Majurovski got a touch on a strike from Dino Fajkovic to score in the 59th minute before grabbing a treble with another touch of class in the 62nd. The veteran target man brought down a long ball ball at the far post and hit a shot from an acute angle to score.

The match was Broadmeadow’s first since Mitch Oxborrow was banned for five games for spitting. James Virgili (hamstring strain) was also missing for Magic.

It was another star performance from Majurovski and Bradbery, who were standouts in Magic’s 4-1 FFA Cup round of 32 win over Canberra.
