Fancy a beer with a shot of coffee?

Hunter Beer Co has collaborated with Newcastle’s Josie Coffee Roasters to bring something special to this weekend’s Aroma Coffee and Chocolate Festival.

The two businesses met recently and using some of the best Josie Coffee beans, Hunter Beer Co has brewed up a special coffee infused ‘Kolsch’ beer.

Keith Grice from Hunter Beer Co said the magic of this combination should appeal to coffee geeks, beer nerds and foodies.

“The subtle and delicate flavours of both the coffee beans and the yeast strain complement each other and can be tasted in the final beer,” he said.

“For the rest of us, it is a refreshing easy drinking drop that will go down easily on a fine winter’s day’.”

Chris Edden from Josie Coffee Roasters said the process of making the “brew” fun.

“We had a heap of fun and gained some great insight into beer brewing by working with the team at Hunter Beer Co,” he said.

“We sampled a range of beers and coffees separately and came up with a combination that works really nicely. The coffee compliments the beer perfectly, not overpowering it at all, it’s definitely something to check out for everyone over the weekend.”

The coffee infused Hunter Kolsch will be available for tasting for the first time at Aroma on Saturday at the Hunter Beer Co stall.

Aroma. which will be held on the Riverside car park, will bring some of the Hunter’s finest baristas, roasters and chocolatiers together for two special days in Central Maitland.

There will be 80 stallholders and the event program is packed with things to do including live demonstrations on the Flavour Stage, outdoor lounge areas, a kid’s cafe and a host of live music on the Crema Stage over the two days.

Council’s Events Coordinator Adam Franks said Aroma provides an opportunity to showcase the many talented producers from around our region.

“We’ve got lots of new things on this year including the cool new collaboration between Hunter Beer Co and Josie Coffee Roasters. Aroma brought more than 16,000 people to Central Maitland last year and we encourage everyone to come along and enjoy a great weekend.”

While it isn’t officially part of the event’s schedule, festival goers will also have the opportunity to experience the second Hunter Arts Network Art Bazaar Pop Up market at The Levee Shared Zone on both days.
