AN elderly man has been airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the Pacific Highway near Forster on Sunday morning.
The man was trapped in the wreckage for a short time following the crash on the Pacific Highway at Coolongolook around 7.30am.
Emergency crews were called after reports a Honda Jazz and Ford Escape had collided and rolled. The driver of the Honda, a 72-year-old man, was eventually freed from his vehicle by Fire and Rescue NSW.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being airlifted by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The driver of the Ford, a 25-year-old Queensland man, was taken to Manning Base Hospital with minor injuries.
Both drivers will undergo mandatory testing.
