Jennifer Hawkins holidays in the Maldives, amid news of Myer split

Jennifer Hawkins posted on Instagram this week photos of herself in the Maldives.

The photos came around the same time news broke that she won’t be re-signing with Myer after 12 years as the department store’s face. She earned about $16 million from the long-lasting relationship, the SMH reported.

“Now the embattled retailer is tightening the screws, hiring a younger but comparatively unknown reality television star as her replacement, and at a fraction of the price,” the report said.

The former Newcastle Knights cheerleader and Miss Universe turns 35 in December.

But don’t worry about Jen. She’ll do just fine without Myer. For one thing, she has a real estate empire.

Plus, she has other clients including Mount Franklin water and Colgate, not to mention her own swimwear line and shoe brand.

Locally, she’s the face of the Trinity Point development on the Morisset peninsula.

Lara Lupish, editor-in-chief and creative director of Newcastle-based fashion magazine Façon, said Jen had “earned such a great reputation for herself”.

Lara used to work with her quite a bit as a fashion editor and stylist.

“She’s such a well-known face. She’s amazing and I adore her,” she said.

Now let’s be clear. We’re not saying Jen is old. Far from it. She’s a spring chicken as far as we’re concerned. But we did ask Lara whether models have a use-by date. She said: “I don’t think that really exists anymore”.

“Major international advertising campaigns – some of the most successful campaigns recently – have used older women, some in their 60s and 70s,” she said.

She said Versace had a supermodel reunion on the runway in Milan last year, with Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni and Helena Christensen.

“It was the biggest highlight of Fashion Week,” Lara said.

Lara said someone else “will snap up” Jen.

David Jones, perhaps.

Usain Bolt’s Babes

Online bookmaker Sportsbet is taking bets on who will be Usain Bolt’s first date in Australia when he arrives to train with Central Coast Mariners.

Sophie Monk is favourite at $2.50, Delta Goodrem is paying $3, Tara Pavlovic $5.50, Miranda Kerr $7 and Emily Seebohm $8.

Wonder what the girls at Terrigal will think of that?

More importantly, wonder what Bolt’s girlfriend Kasi Bennett will think of that?

“He has my heart,” she wrote, with a recent Instagram photo of herself and the sprint legend.

The Sun tabloid in the UK also reported this week that Kasi gave Usain a football-boot cake to celebrate his planned stint at the Mariners.

By all accounts, the cake had a Mariners logo and was decorated with the club’s yellow and blue colours.
