WHEN I was growing up, all politicians were naturally older than me and seemed respected by all. I'm now older than most politicians, many of whom seem to me self-centred, disrespectful, delusional, entitled, misbehaving dobbers with no real life skills and in dire need of a good whack across the backside with a wooden spoon.

TO GERARD Mullit (Short Takes 9/10), the Knights need to hold on to young players not sign a has been like Smith. However Cameron's refereeing skills and influence would be handy.
Steve Barnett, Fingal Bay
THERE were protesters outside Carrington coal terminal this week protesting against climate change (‘Protest pushes for climate action now’, Herald 10/10). So it's okay for the protesters to let off flares, which by the way are toxic? Hypocrites!
Lou Durdevic, Fletcher
IT MAKES me laugh how these coal protesters drive their fuel-run cars to protest about fossil fuels and then let flares off (‘Protest pushes for climate action now’, Herald 10/10). A bit hypocritical, methinks.
Ken Stead, Lambton
AM I the only one amused by people getting hysterical about a horse race being promoted through projections onto the Sydney Opera House sails (‘Opera House law contest’, Herald 10/10)? Has everyone forgotten that its construction was funded by the proceeds of a lottery?
Scott Hillard, New Lambton
OK, I AGREE that flashing up a horse race most of us have never heard of wasn't clever, but one must remember that the Opera House was built with gambling money: the Opera House lottery.
Kevin Donoghoe, Hamilton North
IT’S NOT just the Opera House; it's this mania for commercialising everything and covering it in advertising. Enough.
Ed Matzenik, Maitland
TO COL Maybury (Topics 10/10), I did notice quite recently at ANZ Stadium a few chook feathers flying around. These feathers seemed to cross a white line, return to half way and then proceed to cross this white line again and again. It was quite amusing to watch the chooks at play.
Brad Hill, Singleton
PREMIER Gladys Berejiklian, has called for a dramatic 50% cut to migrant intake. Why only that much, why not make it 100%?
David Davies, Blackalls Park
GREAT news that the Gold Coast whale calf was cut out of the shark nets (‘Whale calf 'enveloped' in Queensland shark net renews calls for change’, Fairfax 9/10). How many sea creatures do they kill beyond sharks? Get rid of the nets and drum lines. People should swim where it’s safe. Great news saving the whale, but shame for what gets murdered.
Alan Ackroyd, Hamilton
WOULD you have wanted Matt Lodge and Tevita Pangai Jr at the Knights?
