Newcastle City Council will place on public exhibition a master plan for upgrading Stevenson Park at Mayfield West.
The plan includes a range of priorities identified in community workshops and surveys, including more parking; moving, upgrading and expanding the park’s playground; an off-leash dog area; new paths; and upgrading football, baseball and softball fields and amenities.
It also includes a suggestion to co-locate the three sports’ clubhouses into a central building.
The ideas are arranged into three concept plans, one of which includes skate “elements” and a basketball half-court.
The council has allocated $150,000 in its 2018-19 budget for a new playground at the park.
The council is also poised to start preparing a strategic plan for the city’s sports fields.
