AN estimated crowd of 20,000 flocked to Foreshore Park during last year’s Newcastle 500 to receive a fuel injection of rock’n’roll.
There were hundreds of people who staked out spots early in the day and had obviously bought Supercars tickets especially to see Cold Chisel.
And they didn’t disappoint.
Jimmy Barnes prowled the stage constantly, letting his trademark gravel voice boom across the audience. Sweat poured off the 61-year-old “Working Class Man’s” face.
There were no pit stops. No idling. No petrol left in the tank. Barnesy and co gave it everything.
