A young man has been robbed at knife-point in broad daylight after four men approached him in a New Lambton laneway.
The incident took place in an alleyway between Fay and Woodlands Avenue while the young man was walking to Kotara at 11.20am on Thursday morning.
Police said two teenage boys approached the 22-year-old man after he turned down the laneway. The boys asked if he could give them a cigarette, which he did.
A further two men approached shortly after and also asked for cigarettes, which the young man declined to give them.
The men then took out knives and demanded he give them his wallet. The young man handed over his wallet to the oldest assailant who removed cash and a bank card.
Police said the pair stole a “medium amount of cash”, between $100 and $1000.
The young man picked up his wallet from the ground and went directly to a police station to report the incident.
The victim sustained abrasions to his face during the incident, police said, but told officers he “could not recall how that happened”.
Police could not provide an estimated age of the two men wielding knives, but said they were continuing inquiries into the matter.
