A MAN accused of murdering his father at Maryland last year will face a brief judge-alone trial in Sydney Supreme Court next year that will focus on his state of mind around the time that his father was stabbed.
Jacob Zdrevkovic, 22, of Delray Court, Maryland, was represented by Public Defender Peter Krisenthal when he appeared in Sydney Supreme Court on Friday.
He was formally arraigned and pleaded not guilty to a charge of murdering his father, 52-year-old Zoran Zdrevkovic, outside their home on December 6, 2017.
“A defence of mental illness is relied upon in the Supreme Court,” Public Defender Peter Krisenthal had said when the matter was committed for trial last month.
Mr Zdrevkovic, who remains behind bars, will face a two or three day trial in Sydney Supreme Court beginning on June 17, 2019.
