NEWCASTLE Jets: promise so much, deliver so little. Let’s hope it doesn’t rub off on the Knights.
Alan Kendall, Neath
I UNDERSTAND Mayfield has been declared a flood zone and now some insurers will not offer house and contents insurance. Woolworths Insurance were one of the companies who declined to quote despite the alleged flood threat of the storm water channel being situated directly behind their Mayfield store. Those few that offer are up to a 300 per cent increase on their last quotes. Why? We have not had a flood in Mayfield.
Gary Wiggins, Mayfield
HAVING just returned from our yearly week up the coast I would like to send a big thank you to the coast’s lifesavers. Whilst your bravery is legendary it was your repeated reminders to careless swimmers to “please swim between the flags” that had me marvelling at your patience. Your reassuring presence goes a long way to helping yours truly unwind.
Dave McTaggart, Edgeworth
BRUCE Cook (Short Takes, 10/1) is sick of Steve Barnett's dribble. Why not send him a bib to mop it up? I'm sick of his drivel.
Keith Parsons, Newcastle
REGARDING Bruce Cook (Short Takes, 10/1): That is what free speech for all means. Even if we don’t agree with their opinion Brucey. Love ya mate, Brad.
Brad Jones, Fern Bay
COULDN’T agree more with Bruce Cook regarding Steve Barnett, some people like the sound of their own voice, he just likes to see his name in print.
Geoff Pickin, Wallsend
I WISH my knives cut as deep and easy as my opinion.
Steve Barnett, Fingal Bay
FANNING the flames of racial hatred can be a risky business as the stand-offs at St Kilda beach shows. Whether it is News Limited or politicians like Senator Anning, when you openly and actively encourage the far right you are risking embarrassment or even violence. When the flames get too high, the media outlet and politicians who encourage these outbursts will hurriedly pull back. The gullible 'perpetrators' are left to take the blame for their misguided behaviour. You will see them come out from under their rocks when the fire cools and get back to what they do best – using pawns like far right groups on St Kilda beach to fan the flames of their hateful racial agendas.
John Butler, Windella Downs
