A MAN arrested in Mayfield West will face court later this month charged with sending indecent material online to two people under the age of 16.
United Kingdom investigators referred the matter to NSW’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad in July. The Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) began investigating.
In court, police will allege that the 39-year-old arrested on Friday believed he was speaking to two girls aged 10 and 12.
It will be further alleged he engaged in conversations about sexual acts he wished to perform on them.
Police arrested the man about 10.15am, searching a property and seizing a mobile phone.
The 39-year-old was granted strict conditional bail and is scheduled to face Newcastle Local Court on January 31.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing CEIU investigation into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children through the internet and related telecommunications.
Its officers regularly conduct covert online investigations, working closely with interstate and overseas law enforcement agencies.
