IF they don't lock up some of these bank bosses, what is the next judge going to say to the next bank robber?

THE residents of Salt Ash and Williamtown areas deserve better. Through no fault of their own they are being treated like people in third-world countries. With a federal election coming, either of the major parties should make a commitment to expedite this issue for residents. If this is how Aussies are to be treated, what use is a democratic society if we aren't fair dinkum?

I RECENTLY visited my aunt at Hawkins Masonic Village on Saturday, February 9 and the water board were doing pipe work; no problems there. I know they have to flush the system after the work to clean it out again. The water was flushed out and ran down the gutter. Surely the amount of water I saw could have been put into a water tanker and taken up the valley to farmers who need it badly. There was quite an amount of precious water wasted. I am not impressed.

MEMO to politicians: Keep your mouths shut when required.

THE mass hysteria being thrown around by the federal government over the “Phelps Bill” brings back memories of the children overboard saga which helped the Howard government snatch an election victory in 2001. It was later revealed the whole thing was a hoax, thrown out there to scare the voting public. The sad part was, it worked. So, voters beware; never believe anything put out by a Liberal government in danger of losing an election.

WHAT a joke the new tram service is, it reminds me of a vacant hall, waiting for a party to happen.

WHAT nonsense Brad Hill (Short Takes, 12/2).

SO the council thinks that $50k is cheap for a new logo design (‘New council emblem for ‘inclusive’ city’, Herald, 7/2). Might it well be! However what about the cost to the ratepayer to change everything to the new logo? No mention of that! So general manager what is the true cost?
Jim Todhunter, Hamilton South
ELSA Cant (Short Takes, 9/2), well said. Nuatali Nelmes will never ever get my vote again and I'm a passionate Labor voter. I've had the pleasure and privilege to meet Kath Elliott and she is a wonderful woman with an amazing passion for Newcastle. John Church, keep up the great work; Newcastle needs people like you and Kath.
