A Stockton man has been arrested after he allegedly punched two police officers.
The 45-year-old was refused bail on Thursday after he was charged with a string of assault and theft-related offences earlier this week.
Newcastle police said in a Facebook post that officers investigating two break and enters at Kotara and Hamilton businesses tracked the man to a home in Mt Hutton on Tuesday.

When officers entered the home, the man allegedly jumped from a second storey window and ran into a shed.
He allegedly punched two officers as they tried to apprehend him before police used capsicum spray on him.
Police also allege the man threatened a senior constable and threw a water bottle at a sergeant after he was taken to Waratah police station to be charged. He will face court on May 2.
