HUNTER duo Corey Lamb and Josh Robards will be hoping to transfer state success into individual success at the Illawarra Junior Masters starting Tuesday.
Lamb and Robards helped steer NSW to victory at the Interstate Series at Santuary Cove last week.
The Blues won the opening six matches to have the series wrapped up heading into the final match.
Lamb, representing NSW for a second year, played all seven matches and finished with a 5-2 win-loss record.
"It was good to be able to go one better after NSW finished second last year," Lamb said. "I chipped really well and putted OK."
Robards, who was on debut, split his four matches.
Lamb (Branxton) and Robards (Newcastle) have now switched focus to the Illawarra Junior Masters.
"I have a bit of confidence from last week but don't know much about the courses other than they are tight," Lamb said. "Hopefully I can carry my form on here."
The NSW duo will be joined by Harry Atkinson (Kurri), Jake Riley (Toronto), Harry Cleare (Nelson Bay) and Josh Fuller (Muswellbrook).
After the 36 hole event, most of the the group will compete in the Newcastle District Junior school boys and girls championships at Nelson Bay, teeing off at 10am Friday.
Belmont's Kiana Toole will start favourite in the schoolgirls, which coincides with the Newcastle Hunter District Ladies junior championships, after she finished with the best record in the junior pennants played at Belmont, Waratah and Pacific Dunes last week.
Toole was a part of the Green team which claimed the title and she finished with three wins and a differential of plus 14. Girls filled the top three places. Lanna New (Charlestown) was second ahead of Amy Squires (Nelson Bay). Hamish Ellison was fourth with 2.5 wins.
