Newcastle electric bike sharing business BYKKO is celebrating its first year of operations in Newcastle with another six-month extension of its program from Transport for NSW, entering in its second year of operations.

As traffic in Newcastle gets heavier and finding a car park gets more difficult and expensive, the BYKKO electric bikes provide an affordable transport alternative.

BYKKO stations are in the vicinity of all light rail stops, the Newcastle Interchange train station and the Ferry wharf so it is easier now to commute to work by public transport and continue your journey in city on an easy to pedal electric bike.

Alternatively, you can park your car at Merewether, Bar Beach or Junction and jump on an electric bike to your destination in the city.

The benefits go beyond an efficient form of transportation to get you to your destination. Electric bikes are incredibly fun to ride reaching speeds of 25km an hour with maximum assistance.

Bikes are fitted with front and rear lights, so you can safely use them at night and of course they are ideal at weekends, so you can explore all that Newcastle has to offer with your family and friends.

Riding an electric bike can reduce stress, lower anxiety, fend off depression, boost self-esteem, improve sleep and provide better concentration. BYKKO electric bikes make it easy for anyone with any fitness level to get out and be healthy and active.

You can travel from one location to the other by locating your nearest docking station on the map, hiring a bike using your Smartphone or tapping your Opal-like membership card and using the electric bike to ride to your next location.

There are a number of fare options to meet different user needs. Using a public shared electric bike is cheaper than buying your own electric bike especially as you have access to top-quality bikes with long range batteries and you don't have to worry about servicing and replacing the defective parts. BYKKO will even put pressure on tyres for you.

Perfect for those taking it easy, the casual rate (PAYG) of $2 per ten minutes is designed for tourists, visitors or casual riders. After four hours of continuous hire, BYKKO will reward you so the rest of the day is free of charge.

The Daily subscription of $10 is perfect for weekend recreational rides with your family and friends. The first 60 minutes of each trip is free. When the BYKKO is re-docked or rotated through a docking station every 60 minutes, there are no extra fees.

A refundable pre-authorisation deposit of $50 is required with each rental. The deposit is released automatically by BYKKO within 24 hrs after re-docking your bike at the docking station and when payment in full for the bike hire fees has been received.

For Novocastrians, the Monthly memberships offer the best value for daily trips; at only $40 per month with unlimited free use as long as the electric bike is rotated to a docking station every 60 minutes, it works out less than $1.35 per day. It is definitely cheaper than parking.

Seniors and students, including international students can now save with the concession rates. The monthly subscription is only $20 with unlimited free use as long as the electric bike is rotated to a docking station every 60 minutes. A month of fun with BYKKO at less than 66c per day.

BYKKO membership will automatically renew each month but there is no lock-in contract. At the end of the month you can cancel your subscription, ideal if you are going on holiday and you don't want to pay while you are away.

Managers and business owners now have a unique opportunity to reward their employees with BYKKO corporate cards. Employees can use BYKKO electric bike share network to get to and from work, meetings, lunch breaks or even deliveries 24/7. Corporate packages are available and they include monthly memberships for employees or prepaid cards which can be shared between colleagues or customers.

The benefits go beyond happy employees. A corporate card will encourage staff to leave their desk for some light exercise and fresh air with proven benefits for their physical and mental wellbeing.

BYKKO won best new product in The Urban Developer Awards 2018 for its innovative approach to future urban mobility, it has been nominated in three prestigious NSW ACT Regional Achievement and Community Award Awards alongside many other great people from regional NSW and the ACT and it is listed as a sustainable transport solution in The Fifth Estate's Green List.
