Norths have put themselves on top of the Hunter Coast Premier Hockey League ladder with a comprehensive 5-1 win over rivals Souths at Broadmeadow on Sunday.
The Blues (10 points) scored four unanswered goals in the second half to claim the victory and they now go clear on the overall standings following a 3-all draw between previously joint leaders Gosford (9) and Wests (6).
"It was a bit ugly in the first half at times, but the second half was a much better performance," Norths coach Dave Willott said.
Souths (7) remain in third spot.
Wests came from 3-1 down to level away against two-time defending premiers Gosford.
Maitland (4) beat University (0) 4-2.
In the sole Newcastle District Women's Hockey Association premier league match on Saturday, Regals equalised in the final quarter for a 2-all draw with Tigers.
